MUD loves Maya Jane Coles, the new queen of underground. One of the most in demand DJ’s of the moment and many would consider her the biggest breakthrough artist of the year.
Maya (23) started out at the age of 15, taking up a place on a music course and by the age of 17 she was awarded a government grant of £10,000 that aimed to take care of and nurture gifted young talent in London. Maya made her first connections after meeting producer and Dogmatik label owner Alex Arnout at Secretsundaze in Mulletover.
Her first record ‘What they say’ released on Realtone Records became an instant favourite with house music lovers with its catchy and retro organ riffs. Maya has been on fire ever since releasing an impressive collection of EPs with labels such as Mobilee, Hypercolour and 2020Vision Recordings.
Her talents also reach beyond the spheres of house and techno music. She produces music under her alter-ego dub/electronic name ‘She is Danger’ (alongside alongside Lena Cullen - singer and instrumentalist) and also produces Dubstep sound under another product ‘Nocturnal Sunshine’.
She made her debut Essential Mix on Radio one this weekend and it’s a special one indeed, including worldwide exclusive tracks.
